5. Jake Heaps Throws a Prayer to William Chandler in Lakes Game (Watch at 5:40)

One of the most fantastic plays throws I have seen at any level, Jake Heaps scrambles out of the pocket and hits William Chandler forty yards down the sideline with only feet to spare. The ball looked like an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) coming out of his arm, and is likely one of the best passes he has ever thrown. When you account that it was in the early-going of the biggest game of his high school career (it would soon be outweighed, though), it is worthy of being in the top five.

4. Tushar WR pass to Simone in Lakes Game (Watch at 3:08)

The most over-hyped game of the season didn’t disappoint, much. And the defining play of the game came off of a fake screen play, with a direct snap to Phil Tushar in the backfield and a sprinting Gino Simone downfield. Once that ball landed in Simone’s hands, which he admitted, “felt like forever,” Skyline’s fate was set. Why did it work so well? Tushar was Skyline’s primary screen target, and well, it was a trick play.

3. Biege Takes the Ball Back 74 Yards in State Championship (Watch Last Part of Run at 1:57)

Not only did it tie 3A state championship game at 35, it effectively put the nail in O’Dea’s coffin. Senior hero Eric Biege took advantage of an unexplained field goal, picking up the forced fumble off Jamie Moyer’s son, Paul, and running it back 74 yards for the score. It is arguably the most memorable play of the year, primarily on the basis of emotion, as it was the manifestation of the hopes and dreams of the Skyline fans yelling for a win.

2. Final Seconds of Bellevue Game

Nothing fancy with this ending. Skyline played sloppy the entire game, including a fumble by Gino Simone early in the game within scoring range and a missed extra point opportunity. Still, a school ravaged by disappointment and uncertainty after a rather mediocre 2006 season made its first appointment with destiny, holding a unique, talented Wing-T offense scoreless. Skyline was now a contender, and one could argue that this game was the anti-state championship.

1. Kasen Williams Catches Ball Over The Middle (Watch)

If there is one standout moment from the season, it is right here. A post route over the middle turned into one of the most valiant, magnificent catches of the season. It wasn’t pretty, but when freshman Kasen Williams kept hold of the ball after a Johri Fogerson angst-filled blast, it solidified him as not only a high school hero but a bona fide college prospect.
