On Friday, June 27, 2008, Alex Hanson completed his first site design for the The Plateau Times. At the time, it wasn’t much. But over the course of two weeks the mere layout of a site has turned into a workable internet news source for our community. Astonishing, isn’t it?

Much of the credit for this project lies with Alex Hanson, the lead site designer and administrator. Without him, this site would merely be a concept floating in Bill Dow’s head, as it was for three months prior to Hanson’s undertaking.

What Is this Blasphemous Site?

The Plateau Times is an online (and possibly in the future, print) community based at providing news, opinion, and information regarding what students at Skyline High School and the surrounding areas would be interested in.

Because we would like to provide the highest quality articles and editorials, we currently staff six people who have an interest in journalism and are willing to help writing or editing. Clearly, though, for this site to reach its potential more willing wordsmiths are needed, and for anybody with an interest in journalism, writing in general, or sharing their opinion on a larger-level, please go to my page for more information.

We need help, and we would be more-than-willing to offer incentives to those interested in aiding our cause.

Interested in Leading a Department?

We are looking for people interested in running each of our subdivisions (editing, talking to writers, etc.) The position is a possibility, not a guarantee, but if you think you could provide good ideas for articles, but are uncertain of whether or not you would like to write, contact me.

What We’re Working On

  • A photo uploading program which allows us to incorporate images with articles, adding some much-needed flair to the site.
  • The addition of minimal advertising to the site to allow greater financial opportunities in the future.
  • A “Best of the Week” compilation of the premier articles, though this is in its infancy.
